its not a CAT
Over 1.9lakh young guns of this country gave the most prestegious MBA entrance exam on 19th Nov 2006. Yours truly was one among them.
I reached the exam hall good one hour in advance .... and i watched groups of students of all colors and shapes reaching the centere. Many girls were genrerous in their dressing and attracted a good number of eyeballs. May be the govt should consider having seperate exam centers for Guys and Girls or they should not allow Girls who have their boy friends to write the exam in same exam center. Considering the number of careers at stake the govt should give a serious thought about that.
I battled through the large crowd to reach the Queue to enter the School.... there was brisk buisness at the "Mobile Phone storage center" ( Cell phones were not allowed inside the school). The exam went on well and i came out happy thinking that i have craked the dreaded exam atlast( this being my third visit to a CAT exam center).
The afternoon was marked by scores of Tv channels competing to Cover how tough the exam was and what could be the probable Cuttoffs to get the Calls from IIM's.
I waited for the Final Key to be released by a reputed Institute. I was expecting to get about 120 score and thought i had a good chance of getting few calls.
I always felt i was very good at Math (i still feel the same). CAT 2006 was marked by a very tough Verbal section( my nemesis). When i checked the key i cleared the Verbal section by a good margin. What followed in the next 5 mins was one of the most depressing 5 mins of my life. When you do not understand what a positive interger is ( x = 0 is a positive integer), when you donot understand what a double digit number is (xy = 02 is double digit number ... reversing it the number will increase by 18 !), when you count the number of rows in table ... without understanding the difference between B(boy) and G(girl)(a problem in dI section),..... So on ... to be exact 7 mistakes in QA and LA altogether. There was something missing between the ears on that day.
I dont know whether i will write CAT 2007 .. I will always remember the experience i gained from writing the CAT .... it does not test just your Knowledge but your personality and approach when you are faced with trying conditions. Hope to find something as interesting as preparing for CAT ... and keep learning because its not all over till the Fat lady sings.
